About Matthew
Matthew Everitt spent twenty years in the CFO chair before building the firm he wished he’d been able to call.
He has led finance at StoryFile, PainePR/Citizen Relations, Rocket XL, and World of Dance — and along the way co-created and executive produced World of Dance for NBC, the number one new summer series of 2017. That combination is unusual, and it is the point. He has sat on both sides of the table: accountable for the P&L, and responsible for the work. He knows what it costs to make something good, and he knows which numbers tell you whether you can afford to keep making it.
Matthew is a Certified Management Accountant and Certified in Financial Management, a graduate of the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Arizona, and a board member at Games for Change. He advises Column Five, Rebel Ventures, and Moontide.
He founded The Good CFO after watching the same pattern repeat. Agencies with real revenue, real clients, and no clear view of which of those clients were actually making them money. A generalist bookkeeper was never going to catch it. Neither was the CPA at tax time. What these companies needed was someone who had run an agency’s finance function from the inside — and most of them could not justify hiring that person full time.
So he built a firm that gives them the whole back office instead: CFO, controller, analyst, bookkeeper, HR, recruiting, and systems, sized to where the agency is now and scaled as it grows.
